Bursa Vacation Guide

Bursa is the fourth-largest city in Turkey, located in the Marmara region, and it serves as the administrative center of Bursa Province.

The city has a population of 3,056,120 as of 2019, with most people living in the Osmangazi, Yildirim, Nilufer, Gursu, and Kestel districts. From 1335 to 1363, Bursa was the first major and second overall capital of the Ottoman State.

It is referred to as “Hüdavendigar” during this period, and has also been nicknamed “Yesil Bursa,” which translates to “Green Bursa” due to its parks, gardens, and forests.

Additionally, Bursa is home to the towering Mount Uludag, known for its ski resort, and it has well-managed urban growth along with fertile plains.

Bursa’s landmarks include thermal baths, Ottoman mansions, palaces, museums, and mausoleums, the most famous being the ones for the early Ottoman sultans.

Additionally, the city is known for its legendary shadow play characters Karagöz and Hacivat, based on two historical figures who died in Bursa in the 14th century.
