Positioned in the midst of Aragon and the Ebro basin, it is surrounded by the rivers Ebro, Huerva, and Gállego. Home to more than half of the population of Aragon, the city is located at an altitude of 208 metres.
Its cultural significance is best seen in its Basílica del Pilar, La Seo Cathedral, Aljafería Palace, and other Mudéjar Architecture of Aragon – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Moreover, the Fiestas del Pilar is an immensely popular celebration in Spain.
