Climate of Santiago

Santiago boasts a remarkable climate that falls under the classification of tropical wet and dry climate according to the Köppen climate classification system.

Thanks to the consistent tropical trade winds, the city experiences relatively stable average temperatures throughout the year, effectively mitigating intense heat and humidity.

Interestingly, the coolest months in Santiago are December and January, while July and August bring the warmest temperatures. Situated in the midst of the Caribbean, Santiago and the entire country enjoy a delightful tropical climate.

However, due to Santiago’s altitude of 183 meters above sea level, the city experiences a significant amount of cloud cover for a large portion of the year.

It’s worth noting that although Santiago lies within the Hurricane belt, the city’s unique climate protects it from being directly impacted by these destructive weather phenomena.
