Birmingham Vacation Guide

Birmingham, in the West Midlands, is Britain's second largest city. Known in the Victorian era, as the "City of a 1000 Trades" and the "Workshop of the World", Brum as locals call the city, is enjoying a 21st century resurgence as a great shopping and cultural destination.

The city has become a top destination for culture vultures, with museums and galleries dotted around the city centre. The Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery houses some of Britain’s most important collections while at Thinktank there are interactive exhibits that explore science, technology and history.

For shoppers there are plenty of high street stores to browse but if you’re looking for something unique then Digbeth Dining Quarter is home to independent designer stores selling everything from handmade jewellery through to retro furniture.

If you’re feeling peckish then pop into one of Birmingham’s many pubs where you can enjoy traditional British food like bangers & mash or fish & chips washed down with a pint of real ale.
