This combination of factors results in a weather that is unlike any other in the world. The city’s weather is interestingly diverse with varying levels of rainfall across its different regions.

The lower area of the valley receives less rain than the upper regions, resulting in drier conditions in certain boroughs. Areas like Iztapalapa, Iztacalco, Venustiano Carranza and the east of Gustavo A. Madero have a more arid and warm climate compared to the southern boroughs such as Tlalpan and Milpa Alta.

These higher southern regions, nestled in the mountainous range of Ajusco, are characterized by lush pine and oak trees.
