Transport in Beijing

Beijing, the bustling capital of China and one of the four municipalities of the PRC, is not only a cultural hub but also a transportation hub of the region, with an extensive network of roads, railways, and two major airports.

Transportation is a critical aspect of the city’s infrastructure and has been one of the main focuses of the Beijing Municipal Government.

The city has five completed ring roads that encircle it, providing easy access to all corners of the city. Additionally, it has nine expressways heading in virtually all compass directions, supplemented by eleven China National Highways, making travel in and out of the city a breeze.

The Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport, the governing body responsible for overseeing transportation in the city, has taken several initiatives to improve the transport infrastructure in the city and ensure that it remains one of the most efficient and well-connected cities in the world.
