The museum houses more than 66,000 works of art, spanning over 30 centuries, making it one of the most complete collections of its kind.
Visitors can expect to see a diverse range of art, including sculptures from Pre-Hispanic Mesoamerica, 19th- and 20th-century Mexican art, and an extensive repertoire of works by European old masters and masters of modern western art such as Auguste Rodin, Salvador Dalí, Bartolomé Esteban Murillo, and Tintoretto.
It’s a true treasure trove of cultural artifacts that you won’t find anywhere else. And the fact that it’s a non-profit cultural institution makes it even more special.
The museum is aptly named after Soumaya Domit, who passed away in 1999, as it pays homage to her love of art and culture. If you’re a culture aficionado, then the Museo Soumaya is a must-visit destination.
