Munich Vacation Guide

Englischer Garten, Munich

The Englischer Garten is not just a park, it's a cultural collection of Munich's history.

Its roots date all the way back to 1789 when Sir Benjamin Thompson, later Count Rumford, created it for Prince Charles Theodore, Elector of Bavaria.

From then on, the park experienced multiple extensions and improvements thanks to Thompson’s successors, Reinhard von Werneck and Friedrich Ludwig von Sckell.

Today, the park stands as a testament to Munich‘s rich cultural heritage, and it’s a prime example of how a simple park can transform into a cultural hub that’s loved by all.
